Did you know that as of January 1, 2024, the Corporate Transparency Act enacted by Congress requires many companies to report beneficial ownership information to the US Treasury Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN)? Beneficial ownership information (BOI), as defined by FinCEN, is identifying information about the individuals who directly or indirectly own or control a company. Certification of Vital Records

Certification Guidelines

  • Photocopies of vital records are not acceptable. All vital records must be certified by the issuing government agency.
  • Certified copies of marriage licenses may be obtained from the county Probate Court or from the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC)’s Vital Records Division.
  • Certified copies of divorce decrees may be obtained from the County Clerk of Court’s Office or from DHEC’s Vital Records Division.
  • A death or birth certificate can only be provided by DHEC’s Vital Records Division.
