This seminar will cover the legal requirements for holding nonprofit raffles in South Carolina, as well as raffle registration and financial report filings with the Secretary of State’s Division of Public Charities. The Secretary of State’s Office Division of Public Charities regulates charitable organizations and professional fundraisers under the S.C. Code Ann., Title 33, Chapter 56, Solicitation of Charitable Funds Act. There are approximately 10,000 charitable organizations and 2,000 professional fundraisers registered with the Division.
- The Division oversees the annual registration and financial reporting requirements for charitable organizations. For more information on charitable organizations, please visit the Public Charities page.
- The Division also oversees the annual registration of professional fundraisers. Professional fundraisers include solicitors, fundraising counsels, and commercial co-venturers. In addition to registration, other filing requirements are specific to each type of professional fundraiser.
