Secretary Hammond honors domestic businesses that have been on file with the Office 100+ years.

(LANCASTER, SC) -- Today Secretary of State Mark Hammond officially recognized Builders Supply Company as a South Carolina Centennial Business. This honor is reserved for domestic business entities that have been on file with the Secretary of State’s Office for 100 years or more.

Secretary Hammond honored Builders Supply Company at its headquarters in Lancaster, South Carolina. “Builders Supply is a perfect example of the small, family-owned business that is the cornerstone of the American Dream,” said Secretary Hammond. “It has been owned and operated by the Gregory family since 1909, and has continuously operated in the same location. Today, Builders Supply Company serves homebuilders in Lancaster County and the Charlotte area, and continues to embody the entrepreneurial spirit that drives South Carolina’s economy.”

“Since my childhood one of the great joys of my life has been working with the hundreds of people that have made our company successful over the decades,” said C.D. Gregory, Jr., Chairman of Builders Supply Company. “We sell the same products as our competition and most of those companies are national chain yards and much larger than us. What keeps Builders Supply competitive is the dedication of the company’s employees and our willingness to adapt to an ever-changing marketplace,” said Greg Gregory, President.

Although it was originally founded in 1908, Builders Supply Company incorporated with the Secretary of State on May 24, 1913. As a family-owned, multi-generational firm, Builders Supply understands the importance of building a strong legacy. Its detailed craftsmanship and expert installation services have made it the authority on building materials in Lancaster County.

Secretary Hammond is recognizing Centennial Businesses for their continued impact on our state’s economy. “Not only do these businesses provide employment opportunities in their communities, but they stimulate economic growth and innovation,” said Secretary Hammond. “I am proud to recognize Builders Supply Company for its long-standing contributions to the State of South Carolina.”

Secretary Hammond will continue to publicly recognize Centennial Businesses located throughout the state and honor their contributions to South Carolina’s growing economy.
